Conducted under the auspices of the Asia Cornea Society, the Asia Cornea Society Infectious Keratitis Study (ACSIKS) is a supranational, 3-year multi-center study on infectious keratitis involving 11 clinical sites from major ophthalmic institutions in 8 Asian countries with the aim to develop improved strategies for prevention and treatment, with the ultimate goal of reducing ocular morbidity and corneal blindness related to infectious keratitis in Asia.
Specific AEBA Objectives includes :
Review and formulate a comprehensive bibliography of current knowledge pertaining to infectious keratitis in Asia to identify knowledge gaps
Determine the frequency and severity of infectious keratitis in Asian countries
Determine the risk factors for infectious keratitis in Asian countries
Determine the organisms causing infectious keratitis in Asian countries
Determine antimicrobial resistance patterns in Asian countries
Evaluate treatment regimes and practice patterns for infectious keratitis in Asian countries
Determine outcomes of medical and surgical treatment of infectious keratitis in Asian countries
Create a central repository of bacterial and fungal organisms responsible for infectious keratitis in Asian patients
