I learned a fair number of corneal transplants: DSAEK,DMEK,DALK,LKP,PKP.
I am grateful to my host, Professor Jun Shimazaki, who allows me to directly participate actively in all aspects of medical, eye banking and corneal surgical practice. I’ve been lucky to be taught by Professor Jun Shimazaki, Satake MD, Yamaguchi MD and Tomida MD, sharpening my clinical knowledge and involving me in high-volume of cornea surgical procedures. I learned a fair number of corneal transplants: DSAEK,DMEK,DALK,LKP,PKP. I also learned about eye banking, for example, preparation, procedure, storage, documentation requirement, evaluation of tissue and donor-related issue.
It is a privilage to attend lectures, journal, case presentations and weekly clinical meetings. All the doctors, colleagues and staff were friendly and helpful. Tokyo Dental College Department of Ophthalmology, Cornea Center- Eye Bank and Ichikawa provide a receptive and supportive environment to study. I highly appreciate Asia Cornea Society, my host and Santen Asia Educational grant for giving me this great opportunity. I met my aim completely.
