For the 2 weeks as an observer it has been an amazing experience overall.

The case based learning, understanding the work culture and moreover, the relentless pursuit by everyone to give excellence in whatever they do is simply inspiring. My two weeks were very thoughtfully planned and I had a balanced exposure to clinics as well as Operative work which was spread over with different consultants in the Cornea department.

The Clinical experience was vast and what had profound learning for me was to see long term follow-up of even 10 to 15 years. This tremendously helps in understanding the natural course and benefits as well as limitations in the long run. OT time had been always filled with different types of lamellar surgeries DALK/DSAEK/ALTK/DMEK and I was really lucky to have seen and bring back important tips and tricks of doing surgery with finesse and better techniques. Each of the doctors and staff were very approachable, clarified doubts & made me feel very comfortable right from the beginning.

In summary, the purpose for which I had approached SNEC for this observer ship has given me more than expected and I have come back more enriched with this experience and better equipped to serve my patients and give them better outcomes. I would like to acknowledge all the doctors for their guidance. 'A BIG THANK YOU' to the Asia Cornea Society for the Santen educational grant & for making all this possible!
